"My name is Thomas Dempsey. I was born and raised in Parkdale-High Park. I love Toronto and I love High Park. I have recently retired from Parkdale Collegiate after a full-time teaching career in high school science and mathematics as a biology specialist. I graduated from the University of Toronto, Innis College, with a major in Biology and a minor in Environmental Studies.

Now I want to give back to my community and serve the people of Parkdale-High Park and help protect the unique nature of High Park. I want to do the most good for the most people.

I am an Environmental Academic who is deeply concerned about the safety and well-being of the people of Toronto and particularly the people of Ward 13 and the beautiful nature of High Park with its diversified recreational attributes."[1]

·      TTC services including the Warren Park Bus

·      preserved the name of Malta Park in the Maltese Community on Dundas Street,

·      improved the noise and vibration felt by many residents along the subway corridor between  Keele and the Humber River

·      daycare centres

·      library hours and services

·      voted against the downtown Casino

·      voted in favour of the fully funded LRT along Eglinton, Finch and in Scarborough"[1]

"Sarah Doucette has been Councillor for Ward 13 since December 1, 2010. She has lived in Ward 13 for eighteen years with her husband and children. Since moving to Bloor West, Sarah has been a successful volunteer; engaging the community to build playgrounds, keep swimming pools open, and save the Swansea Memorial Library from being closed. Sarah has been an active member of community organizations including 11 Division's Community Police Liaison Committee, parent councils at Swansea Public School and Humberside Collegiate Institute, Green 13 environmental group, Swansea Recreational Centre Advisory Committee, Toronto District School Council Ward 7, and the Aquatics Working Group. She has been involved with organizing community clean up days, Earth Hour Walks, and Inorganic Markets offering free recycling of e-waste."[1]

Sharma, Rishi "Ward 13 is under unprecedented development pressure.

With over a dozen development proposals in the ward, developers are taking advantage of stable and mature neighbourhoods. Despite policies in the Official Plan, Tall Buildings and Mid-rise guidelines, developers are getting more by circumventing the decisions made by City Planning. The Ontario Municipal Board (OMB) is an unelected appeals body that developers use to get their proposals approved.

Residents’ Associations and tax payers cannot continue to fight development proposals in turn; it costs too much time and money. The OMB can be replaced by a local appeals body; allowing the City of Toronto to manage its own urban planning. Unfortunately, such reform will take time and the Ward needs an immediate stop-gap measure. I am calling for “development freeze” in the ward, and having City Planning conduct area studies to determine appropriate secondary plans."[1]

"Rishi Sharma was born and raised in Toronto, and has made Ward 13 his home. He was a student Ursula Franklin Academy during high school, and played baseball in High Park. His interest in government has inspired him to become the next City Councillor representing Ward 13 High Park-Parkdale. Rishi is a founding member of the High Park Coalition, and has dedicated countless hours towards the fight for responsible development. He understands that Ward 13 is under intense development pressure and will implement a strategy for appropriate development. Bloor West, High Park and Swansea are desirable places to live in Toronto, and Rishi wants to preserve this by serving Ward 13."[1]
