More needs to be done to prevent crime in Toronto

Crime in Toronto

Toronto has a very low crime rate for a city of its size.  It is not in the top 15 cities in terms of rankings for homicide, sexual assault, aggravated assault, breaking and entering, motor vehicle theft, impaired driving, or cannabis possesion1.

Toronto does rank #5 in robberies.

Crime in Toronto

There were 17 homicides in 2013, and so far 16 in 20142.  We shouldn't accept these deaths just because they are occurring at a lower rate than other locations in the country.

The Toronto Police Force is the largest municipal police service in the country.  Toronto police officers are well trained and effective, and they have the staffing required to complete their job.
